Dear Parents, Caregivers, and Learners

The term that has just passed has been extremely busy, filled with meaningful events, moments of scrutiny, and excellent opportunities for all our girls, across all spheres of our School – one in which they were regularly challenged, to present the very best of themselves and make the most of what Northlands Girls’ High School has to offer, both in the classroom and in our extramural program. While there is much academic work to be covered in the upcoming terms, I am most encouraged by the good Term 1 results.

I would like to record my thanks to our committed and dedicated parents for their support of our girls during the extramural program. You have been truly amazing and always willing to go the extra mile to assist. I look forward to your support in the 2nd term.

Our Open Day held on 25 February, was well supported with over 220 learners and their parents from all our feeder primary schools in attendance. They were most impressed with what we have on offer at Northlands Girls’ High School.

From a staffing perspective, Mrs. R. Chetty (Physical Sciences) emigrated with her family to Australia, early in February.
We welcomed Mrs. D. Smith to the Physical Sciences Department, who was very excited to be back at the school.

I would like to place on record my congratulations to Mrs. K. Govender, on being re-elected as the School Governing Body (SGB) Chairperson, Mr. E. Swanepoel, who was re-elected as the SGB Vice-Chairperson, and Mr. N. Maharaj who was elected as the SGB Treasurer. I would also like to welcome three new Parent Members on to our SGB: Mr. A. Naicker, Mr. R. Ishwarlaal, and Mr. R. Jacobs.

I encourage all parents to attend the two Parent Consultation Evenings to be held during Term 2. The Grade 12 Consultation Evening will be on Tuesday 18 April and the Grade 9 evening on Thursday 22 June. It is important that you are kept informed of your daughter’s progress and know what is expected of them this year. The consultation evenings for the remaining grades will be held at the beginning of the third term.

Term 2 is often disruptive due to public holidays, which result in a few shorter academic weeks. It is imperative that your daughter attends school every day to ensure that she is kept up to date with work that will be tested in the June Examinations.

Do enjoy the holiday break, a time for our young ladies to relax, reflect, re-energise, and re-focus. I look forward to seeing you all back on Wednesday 12 April for the start of a busy and exciting Term 2. To our Muslim families who are currently observing Ramadan, may this be a blessed and meaningful period for you. Also, to our Christian community, I do trust that the upcoming Easter period will be filled with wonderful celebration and fellowship.

Do keep safe and a massive thank you to all our parents for your continued support.

Yours sincerely,
Mr. TS Reddy
