
English Home Language
A compulsory subject. In Gr.8 & Gr.9 we break down each component and understand what’s behind the language. From Gr.10 to Gr.12 we explore more complex writings like Shakespeare, and develop on what we’ve learned to apply our skills in our own creative writing, poetry and other writing avenues.

Afrikaans Second Language
In Gr.8 & Gr.9, a compulsory subject. We focus on developing learners’ ability to understand and speak the language. By the time learners reach Gr.10 to Gr.12, an optional subject. Learners should speak with a high level of proficiency to prepare them for further or higher education, or the world of work.

Life Orientation
A compulsory subject. L.O is the study of self, in relation to others and to society. It addresses skills, knowledge, and values in one’s self, environment, social engagement, physical activity, and to live an overall healthy and productive lifestyle.

IsiZulu Second Language
In Gr.8 & Gr.9, a compulsory subject. We focus on developing learners’ ability to understand and speak the language. By the time learners reach Gr.10 to Gr.12, an optional subject. Learners should speak with a high level of proficiency to prepare them for further or higher education, or the world of work.

French Second Language

Learners should speak with a high level of proficiency to prepare them for further or higher education, or the world of work.

Consumer Studies
Optional in Gr.10. Every person is a consumer and needs to know how to purchase wisely, select and eat foods that are healthy and be able to live in a home that is both functional and attractive. Consumerism deals with everyday business practices such as establishing your own business and learning how to sustain a profitable small-scale production. In the practical component of the subject learners have an opportunity to produce and market different products.

Computer Literacy
Optional in Gr.10. Computer literacy has become a prerequisite for almost any job in the modern office environment, and as such, it is more important than ever before to ensure that people have the knowledge and skills to utilise the latest technology for their own benefit, and the benefit of their businesses.

Computer Application Technology
Optional in Gr.10. C.A.T is the study of the
integrated components of a computer system (hardware and software) and the
practical techniques for their efficient use and application to solve everyday
problems.

Information Technology
Optional in Gr.10. I.T is building communications networks for a company, safeguarding data and information, creating and administering databases, helping employees troubleshoot problems with their computers or mobile devices, or doing a range of other work to ensure the efficiency and security of business information systems. Demand for professionals in this field is high and growing, and people entering the field have a range of career paths to choose from, however, your competition will be fierce.

Physical Science
Optional in Gr.10. The study of the inorganic world. That is, it does not study living things. (Those are studied in biological, or life, science.) The field has a range of career paths. The four main branches of physical science are astronomy, physics, chemistry, and the Earth sciences, which include meteorology and geology. Each of these is in turn divided into fields and subfields. The journey will take passion and dedication.

Life Science
Optional in Gr.10. An enormous field of study that examines every living thing on earth. From bacteria to begonias to beluga whales, life sciences aim to learn everything about life on this planet. Each avenue of the field aims to answer some of our most fundamental questions about us, and the world around us.

Natural Science
Compulsory in Gr.8 and Gr.9. It is a study of any of the sciences (such as physics, chemistry, or biology) that deal with matter, energy, and their interrelations and transformations or with objectively measurable phenomena.

Advance Programme Mathematics
Optional in Gr.10. The AP Maths curriculum
extends and enhances our students’ knowledge of Mathematics, sharpens their
problem solving ability and greatly facilitates the transition to the demands
of university, whether in South Africa or overseas. The subject is only offered
as an eighth additional subject and after normal school hours.

Mathematics
Compulsory in Gr.8 and Gr.9. Optional in Gr.10. Math is all around us, in everything we do. It is the building block for everything in our daily lives, including mobile devices, computers, software, architecture (ancient and modern), art, money, engineering and even sports. Since the beginning of recorded history, mathematical discovery has been at the forefront of every civilized society, and math has been used by even the most primitive and earliest cultures.

Mathematical Literacy
Optional in Gr.10. Identify and understand the role that mathematics plays in the world, to make well-founded judgements, and to use and engage with mathematics in ways that meet the needs of that individual’s life. Mathematical literacy is concerned with the ability of students to analyse, reason, and communicate ideas effectively as they pose, formulate, solve, and interpret solutions to mathematical problems in a variety of situations.

Accouting
Optional in Gr.10. The process of recording financial transactions pertaining to a business. The accounting process includes summarizing, analyzing, and reporting these transactions to oversight agencies, regulators, and tax collection entities. The financial statements used in accounting are a concise summary of financial transactions over an accounting period, summarizing a company's operations, financial position, and cash flows.

Business Studies
Optional in Gr.10. Ever dreamed of building your own billion-dollar business like the next Facebook, Instagram or Uber? Well, before you start whipping out your new app at your basement, it’s best you get a head start by learning the ropes of business first. We know that studying business doesn’t guarantee your place in the highly-coveted billionaire club or Top 30 under 30 lists. Other equally important factors like hard work, determination, and a touch of luck that can signal the success or failure of your business. But, getting a solid grip on the inner working of business can surely up your odds of making it by giving you additional ammo to push your business forward.

Economic Management Science
Compulsory in Gr.8 and Gr.9. It combines aspects
of Business Studies and Accounting, both of which are elective IEB subjects
that students may study in Grades 10-12. In EMS students are exposed to
real-life situations through simulation and outings so as to enhance their
understanding of both the subject content and its relevance in daily life.

Music
Optional in Gr.10. From scales to songs and
musical theory, we love it all. We immerse students in the world of music by
exploring its diversity. Music demands collaboration, listening and patience.
Singing songs, playing instruments, participating in musical games and learning
about the origins of different types of music has the ability to change a student’s
life. A student may develop an intense passion for playing and composing music
in the hopes of influencing others like those before have influenced them.

Dramatic Arts
Optional in Gr.10. The dramatic arts refer to
theatre and staged narrative performances. Explore the characteristics of the
dramatic arts, different types of comedy and drama, and types of performances,
including musicals, puppetry, improve, and mime.

Visual Art
Optional in Gr.10. The visual arts are art forms
that create works that are primarily visual in nature, such as ceramics,
drawing, painting, sculpture, printmaking, design, crafts, photography, video,
film making and architecture. These definitions should not be taken too
strictly as many artistic disciplines (performing arts, conceptual art, textile
arts) involve aspects of the visual arts as well as arts of other types. Also
included within the visual arts are the applied arts such as industrial design,
graphic design, fashion design, interior design and decorative art.

History
Optional in Gr.10. From chaos comes order. We
seek to understand the past by determining and ordering ‘facts’; and from these
narratives we hope to explain the decisions and processes which shape our
existence. Perhaps we might even distill patterns and lessons to guide – but
never to determine – our responses to the challenges faced today.

Geography
Optional in Gr.10. The science that deals with
the description of the Earth’s surface.
Geography is a multi-disciplinary fields that studies spatial patterns
and phenomenon. It is much more than cartography, the study of maps or simply
knowing the capitals of every country. The field of geography not only investigates
what is where on the Earth, but also why it’s there and not somewhere else,
sometimes referred to as “location in space”.

Technology
Compulsory in Gr.8 and Gr.9. Learn about the processes and knowledge related
to technology. As a field of study, it covers the human's ability to shape and
change the physical world to meet needs, by manipulating materials and tools
with techniques’
