Grade 12 Speech Day & Awards

Northlands Girls’ High School celebrated its annual Grade 12 Speech Day and Awards, recognising the hard work, dedication and personal sacrifices of our matrics throughout their five years of high school. The ceremony honoured learners who excelled in Academics, Sport and Culture, celebrating their commitment, perseverance and outstanding achievements.
Our guest of honour and proud alumna, Dr Xolile Mdletshe, shared words of wisdom, knowledge and inspiration, encouraging our learners as they prepare to embark on the next chapter of their lives. Our Head Girl also addressed the matric class with words of motivation, while our talented matrics entertained the audience with musical performances, including a beautiful rendition of Mariah Carey’s Hero by three Grade 12 learners.
The occasion also provided an opportunity to acknowledge and thank our 2026 Executive Body for their time, energy and dedicated service to the school throughout the year.
A highlight of the ceremony was the recognition of our top academic achievers for 2026:
Dux – Subhadra Naicker
Runner-up to Dux – Dia Govender
Third in Grade 12 – Amakha Ngcobo
Congratulations to these exceptional young women on their outstanding academic achievements! We are incredibly proud of their dedication and commitment to excellence.
The day concluded with one of Northlands Girls’ High School’s most cherished traditions: the final ringing of the bell. Having first rung the bell as excited Grade 8 learners, our matrics rang it for the last time, symbolising the completion of a significant milestone and the end of their high school journey. Surrounded by staff, parents and family members, this special moment celebrated five years of growth, friendship, memories and achievements.
Congratulations to the entire Class of 2026! May you carry the lessons, values and friendships you have gained at Northlands into the next chapter of your lives. We wish you every success in all that lies ahead.
