NGHS 1st Team Soccer

Heading into the festival, the Northlands Girls’ High School Soccer Team didn’t know what to expect from the teams we’d be facing, but the team never took a step back. They started with a draw, then won the next three games to finish top of Pool A.
By the quarter-finals, three days of football had started to take its toll. Tired legs and a few injuries crept in, but the team showed incredible heart, battling past Port Shepstone to secure a place in the semi-finals.
The semi-final was an absolute battle. It was end-to-end, and despite giving everything, NGHS were narrowly beaten 3-2. With one final game left, the team gave it their all and finished in 4th place.
While the final result wasn’t exactly what NGHS were chasing, the group showed resilience, fight, and pride every time they stepped onto the field.
Special congratulations to the NGHS goalkeeper Ayabonga Makhanya, who was named Goalkeeper of the Tournament. Ayabonga Makhanya, Minenhle Cele and Faith Ndlovu were selected for the Team of the Tournament. An outstanding achievement and a reward for all the hard work they put in throughout the weekend.
