Online Danger Talk – Christy Herselman

Northlands Girls’ High School hosted Christy Herselman (The Chat), who presented a talk on #WellconnectedTeens.
Christy spoke about learners being digitally responsible and aware of dangers in the online world is a collective responsibility. These talks enlightened learners on the effect that social media can have on their image, confidence, development, friendships, family relationships and well-being. It was emphasised that both teens and adults should not allow devices to monopolize their time and substitute meaningful face-to-face communication. With Technology evolving at such a fast rate, maintaining open communication with our children is imperative to ensure their safety. Christy’s notable words to our learners around social media interaction were ‘ Be Kind or Be Quiet’
