Afrikaans Special Assembly

Northlands Girls’ High School proudly hosted our annual Afrikaans Assembly with a special twist—celebrating 100 years of Afrikaans as an official language!
The assembly journey began with Jan van Riebeeck’s arrival and unfolded the rich, diverse story of how Afrikaans grew through the voices of many cultures and communities. From its roots to its vibrant present, NGHS honoured the language that connects so many South Africans. A highlight of the assembly was our Grade 10 learners performing the traditional volkspele dans, bringing heritage to life with rhythm and pride.
NGHS is proudly South African and proud Afrikaans supporters.
